About ‘Choose how you move in Leicester & Leicestershire’

Choose how you move in Leicester and Leicestershire supports active and sustainable travel for work and leisure, and is an initiative between Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council with funding from the Department of Transport

Choose how you move engages with residents, visitors, businesses and local communities of Leicester and Leicestershire to support travel planning, provide real-time travel and public transport information, and promote cycling, walking and other forms of active and sustainable travel.

The Choose how you move website (www.choosehowyoumove.co.uk) is a one-stop shop for travel information and  features an online local journey planner to allow residents and visitors to consider their different travel options at different times of the day and night.

With cycling maps and walking guides, cycle training, lift share schemes, real-time travel information and much more, Choose how you move has made it easier to find alternative ways to travel for work and leisure.

Choose how you move’s business engagement programme has seen us working with a wide ange of  businesses, such as Next, to champion the fact that staff who travel actively to work are healthier, happier and more productive. Choose how you move  travel experts work closely with businesses and their staff to provide practical solutions, and grants are available in some cases to help overcome barriers to active and sustainable  travel.

Working with selected schools, the Choose how you move’s annual schools programme  increases the numbers of children, parents and staff who cycle, walk or car share on the school journey. We assist schools to reduce school gate congestion by rewarding and recognising changes to their travel habits and provide a range of practical and fun initiatives aimed at reducing car use and increasing levels of physical activity with active travel.
