 Mersey Side Police

Merseyside Police Special Constables

Merseyside Police currently employ over 7,000 people in a variety of roles including Special Constables.

At Merseyside Police, we believe in putting our communities first in everything we do. We are proud to deliver an excellent policing service and continue to work with our communities to tackle the issues that concern them most.

Special constables are volunteer police officers, who come from all walks of life, working alongside regular officers in the local neighbourhood policing teams and play a vital role in supporting the work of the police and the community. Once completed training, they have the same powers and wear the same uniform as regular officers.

Joining the Specials can give you the chance to make a real difference to your community, and enhance your skills. It is a demanding role, and we ask that you give up at least 16 hours of your spare time each month, but the role opens up all sorts of opportunities.

Claire House Children’s Hospice offers care, support and choice to families whose children won’t live to be adults. At Claire House, we focus on not what we do, but why we do it. Our nurses take over for a couple of days so mum and dad can be parents, as opposed to carers 24.7.

Children and young people can spend time at the hospice on their own, with our expert team of nurses and carers on hand.

At Claire House, 80% of the cost of caring for children with terminal conditions comes from you, through your kind donations, sponsored events and regular ways of giving. We really couldn’t do it without the generosity of the local community.

The volunteer services team are ecstatic to be joining The Job Show, our team will be on hand to speak to individuals looking to get involved with volunteering at their local children’s hospice.
