Shared Lives Carers can provide longer term support, short breaks and/or day time support.

What do you need to be a Shared Lives Carer:
– Experience in supporting adults with physical/learning disabilities, mental health conditions or older persons / people with dementia
– A flexible, personalised approach to life – Good listening and communication skills
– Be willing to share your home and family life.

A detailed assessment will be undertaken to ensure that you have the appropriate skills, values and attitudes to become an approved Shared Lives Carer. You will be paid for the care and support you provide. Payments will vary according to the level of care and support individuals need.

Leicester to Work supports people into training and work by working with employers and providers to develop people’s skills that match employers’ needs. As a city we have increasing levels of youth unemployment. Leicester to Work aims to make a real difference in the city and help to create new and better jobs for local people.
By 2015, by working with partners and employers Leicester to Work will have increased the number of apprenticeships, internships, work placements on offer within the city to give young people real experience of work.

Coping with cancer

Coping with Cancer in Leicestershire and Rutland is an independent, local charity that provides practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer.

Our free services our available to cancer patients, their families and carers from the moment a diagnosis is made. Most importantly, our support can continue for many weeks, months or even years – as long as it is needed by the individual.

Our services include counselling, complementary therapy, telephone support, befriending, HeadStrong hair loss information and support, a solicitor’s surgery, drop-in complementary therapy groups around the county and a wide variety of support groups and activities.
